February 2008

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

It has been an interesting week, somewhat eventful. Among other deep and meaningful conversations, I had a discussion with a couple of people about things that make a person alive.
I found Howard Thurman’s quote (the one above) a long time ago, and since that it has been written on my notebooks. Most of the time I feel myself alive but now started to think what those things are that really make me feel like I am living.

In fact it is all about small moments that make you smile and enjoy the life. The other day it was the wind in my hair when I was riding one of my friend’s horses. Another day it was a long hike with my dog and enjoying the sunshine on my face. Simple things, right ….?

For me being alive means wonderful moments, enjoying my life, doing things that I love the most. Feeling alive comes from the moments, it is not something that you can define on task basis or just list things a, b and c that makes you feel alive.
Feeling alive – it must be in your heart!

I had a blast today! My friend is busy with her new baby, and her husband is out of town this weekend. So, in addition to golf and shopping, I promised to take their son and his buddy to the soccer game.

The day was chilly although sun came out for a little while but more importantly, it was so much fun. In fact it is nice to see kids enjoying outdoors and sports – a lot better way to spend Sunday than just sit in front of the TV or computer.

“Our team” beat visitors, so it was a great day! After the game kids and I are at Red Robin, picked up my little my doggy buddy and went to the off leash park for a while. Again, kids were all excited about playing with Tassu, and now the puppy is all tuckered out – he was playing so hard.

It has been quite a while since my last posting …. that seems to be the case always, though.

Work and all other activities have been keeping me somewhat busy lately. The business trip to Toronto, Canada, was quite an experience travel-wise once again. First of all it was a short trip, and then my return flight turned out to be a bit challenging.

They had ground hold in Chicago on Friday night because of the weather, so I was losing my chances to catch my connecting flight from Chicago to Seattle. This time I got lucky though, and United managed to get me on their flight to Denver – the very last seat on the plane was mine! So I made it home as planned, only a bit later than originally scheduled.

However, my luggage left behind and came late on Saturday night. Otherwise I have been just working out and played golf (in the wind and rain). Despite the yucky weather, the game is going well. But still, I really do look forward to playing in Texas next week!
