Tassu and I did another hike, headed to Oregon this time. As always, we had a blast but the day was long. I was looking for a hiking route that had some nice views but on the other hand would take us into the woods so that we don’t need to deal with people.

Touristy type of hikers just drive me nuts most of the time, so I don’t want to be anywhere near them. Even this time we saved a kid from poison oak. Parents hardly knew what the poison oak was, well, they learned now, I think. Their toddler was hugging poison oak so I kindly told them that it wasn’t probably a good place for a kid. I ended up to wipe the kid with the cleaning wipes containing alcohol since parents didn’t have any kind of medical kits with them nor they knew what to do. Poor kid – hopefully the quick wiping took part of the pain away.

After the medical services, Tassu and I headed to the backwoods. We met some really nice hikers along the way but the steeper the hike got, the less people we met. Awesome! However, Devil’s Rest has truly earned its name – the hike up there is somewhat strenuous, and even though I am in a decent shape, I was tired once we finally got on the hill. But it was fun, and that matters the most!

From the Devil’s Rest we started to descent to the Angel’s Rest which was way more easier place to get to, and also more popular. We saw a bunch of hikers along the way.

In addition to a great hikes, we also saw a few awesome waterfalls the biggest being Wahkeena Falls, a 242-ft fall with three drops looked very pretty on our hiking day. Even though it is a major waterfall like nearby Bridal Veil.
Our waterfall and Devil’s Rest pictures can be found at our website.

Another good thought about hiking: Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. ~John Muir
